I don't know which is more sad -- (A) that the artists that created metal are hardly appreciated as metal anymore and that bands which all the creativity of communist architecture have come to define the genre, or (B) the fans themselves are either walking cliches or weekend warriors. What Dead Kennedies said of punk ("punks not dead, it just deserves to die"), is so much more true for metal.

Thank goodness Iron Maiden, Europe,Bon Jovi, or Whitesnake, Manowar etc. died with the previous generation's exit out of the scene. Try some Devildriver, Kataklysm, Drykill Logic, Burnt by the Sun, Static X. The oldest I'll go is Deicide...unless it's good Black Sabbath. Try some it should get you up from your wheelchair and make you run into walls!
