I don't like Bush Jr. very much, but the only alternative against bombing Iraq is to let Saddam stay in power. The guy has shown that he doesn't give a rat's a** about the Iraqi people or human rights. I think he's got to go.

I'm surprised that this group is so quiet. There's a lot to talk about in politics. Anyone else semi-seriously considering moving to Canada or anywhere where the public is more open minded? I mean Bush is using terrorism as an excuse to bomb Iraq.

O.K. Reading the messages with interest 'cos I'm fairly clueless about American politics. Can anyone explain what happened in the last election in words of one syllable? To me it just seemed bizzare. Or is that the whole point?

I'm fed up with sharing this country with so many jingoistic goorahs who don't read history, know geography, care about their fellow citizens who need a helping hand. I'm sick of this crappy elitist everything: houses, cars, education, newspapers.

Also, are you claiming that just because ballot stuffing has occurred in the past that it is a valid practice? Just because the perennial irregularities were obvious last year doesn't mean they're not wrong.

What gives the vote more value: Counting and recounting, or declaring a winner with incomplete information? While we now know that W won the vote in FL, we didn't when the election was decided. THAT is improper.

Whoever won the election, it was very close. Much closer than the likely error. It was right to try to refine the count, and it would have been no matter who had initially looked to have won.
